If I had to start all over again, this is the simple framework I wish I had to set the foundation for Gospel-centered living.
#1: Understand Our Identity in Christ (Ephesians 1–2)
We live work differently when we understand the inheritance, the rich blessings, we have in Christ as believers. Essentially, we don’t have to do anything to please God, Christ did it for us! It’s by grace we have been and saved and as a result, we can do our “good works” (Ephesians 2:8–10) that align with the purposes of God.
#2: Understand Our Relationships in the Body (Ephesians 3–4)
The body of Christ is made up of many members and we should be interdependent — NOT codependent — on one another. By understanding this, we can better show up as co-heirs and “partners in the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel” (Ephesians 3:6). We display the Gospel when we do life with one another and submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.
#3: Understand Our Mission in the World (Ephesians 5–6)
As redeemed people, we are to live as lights in the world. It’s a tremendous calling, but we are not left alone to “just do it”. We have the power and presence of the Holy Spirit so that we can be strengthened to stand firm in this world and be bold as ambassadors of Christ (Ephesians 6:20).
As Believers, if we truly want to be good stewards of our God-given talents and show up in the world with a redemptive message, we must have our foundation tethered to how Christ has redeemed us, called us, and empowered us to live in this world.
Understanding this biblical framework can help us all to live in the abundance, freedom, and power we have in Christ through the Holy Spirit.
Maybe you are wondering how you can learn more?
I would start by studying God’s Word and solidifying His purposes for you in Christ Jesus. Ephesians is a great place to start!
