3 Tips to Steward Your God-Given Gifts as a Faith-Based Creative

It wasn’t until recently that I realized that my creative gifts as a digital designer and writer and are a special part of who I am as a person.

As my desire grows to be a faithful steward (or faithful manager) of my God-given gifts, I’m realizing how important it is for creatives — like you and me — to use our gifts in a way that honors God, as well as blesses and benefits others. The bonus is that we get to experience the joy of participating with God in redeeming the culture.

After all, we were each created to experience the grace of God so that we can live our purpose in Him.

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith — and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God — not by works, so that no one can boast. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.

~ Ephesians 2:8–10 NIV

If you are interested in stewarding your creative gifts to honor the Lord, here are 3 tips:

❶ Ask the Lord for a creative outlet. Whether you paint, write, sing, or create something else entirely, finding a creative outlet can help you express yourself and learn more about how God has gifted you.

❷ Take a step of faith and practice your gifts in public. Whether from friends, other creatives, or an online audience, constructive criticism can help you improve your work.

❸ Find a community (in-person or online) that aligns with your creative gifts and interests. By connecting with other creatives, you can gain inspiration and resources to help you thrive.

By asking the Lord for a creative outlet, taking a step of faith, and finding a community that aligns with your gifts and interests, you are more likely to do life-giving work and bless others in your creativity.
